Companies face the challenge of protecting their applications on devices or adopting a DevSecOps (Secure Development Operations) approach. Dependence on legacy systems without proper security can put customer information at risk. In this regard, participating in security forums and communities becomes crucial to share information and strategies.
The ANTAD Security Symposium presents itself as an essential platform for retail sector leaders to unite in the fight against cyber threats, share knowledge, and develop effective solutions to protect their operations and data. According to Navarro, it is essential to raise awareness among collaborators about cybersecurity risks and strengthen cyber hygiene strategies, such as the use of secure passwords.
The event will bring together cybersecurity experts and representatives from the retail sector to discuss strategies and best practices that strengthen data protection and technological infrastructure, especially on point-of-sale devices. The importance of implementing rigorous security policies and the relevance of good practices, such as robust passwords and multifactor authentication systems, is highlighted.
The retail sector faces additional challenges on its path to stronger cybersecurity. On one hand, balancing speed and innovation with security practices can be complicated. Additionally, it is crucial to stay updated with security trends and address risks such as breaches in emails and corporate applications.
According to a study by Check Point Research, more than 10% of cyberattacks globally are directed at the retail sector, with a 53% increase in attacks on retail compared to the previous year. This figure is alarming, especially considering the growth of e-commerce in Mexico and Latin America, exposing the sector to serious cybersecurity challenges.
To address these challenges, the National Association of Self-Serve and Department Stores (ANTAD) will hold a Security Symposium from October 29 to 30 in Mexico City, with the aim of jointly addressing the cyber threats faced by the retail sector and seeking effective solutions to protect information and operations.
